Jazz lovers know about Dave Brubeck; his album Time Out is one of jazz history’s all-time best-sellers.
But do they know that his music also earned him an honorary doctorate of sacred theology?
Brubeck wrote his first oratorio based on his WWII experiences in Europe … and called it A Light in the Wilderness. He blended instruments and voice to narrate Christ’s words about loving our enemies. The academics awarding the degree said his musical talent helps people discover love for God and their enemies.
