Laughter

After weeks of research, Nick bought an expensive new software package for his small business. All night he pored over the manual. The next morning, he called a staff meeting and began to lecture on the software installation and its benefits. He gave examples. He demonstrated. It seemed he hadn't even taken a breath. Nearly 90 minutes passed before Nick looked up and said: "Any questions?"
The employees' eyes glazed. The vice president broke the awkward silence, "I don't know how much we got, Nick. Maybe you better go over it one more time."
Nick stared at his vice president, stunned. Then both burst out laughing.
I'm Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Nick knew when not to take himself too seriously. Humor is mighty. And the ability to step back and laugh at ourselves is invaluable—in the high calling of our daily work.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
