An Ordinary Day

On an otherwise ordinary day, little Siri Jordan's grandmother asked her to ride along to the airport. "I'm picking up a friend," the grandmother said.
Siri was looking idly across the concourse when she fixed on a figure walking toward her. He looked like . . . Wait! It was her father! Dan Jordan! Dan had been in Iraq and had months left on his tour. But unexpectedly, he'd been sent home. Overjoyed, his little girl raced and leapt into his arms.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Christ comes to us unexpectedly every day. "Watch, for in such an hour as you think not, the Son of Man comes" . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. (Matt. 24:44-46)
