What’s in a Dream?
Audio / Produced by The High CallingTranscript
What’s in a dream? Consider Elias Howe—the sewing machine pioneer. In his original model, his needle had an eye in the middle. And it didn’t work. One night, Howe dreamed he was under attack. Painted warriors threw spears with holes in the sharp end.
Howe later patented a new design based on the dream spears—and earned more than two million dollars in royalties. A New York Times report credits sleep for improving our performance, creativity, learning, and memory. It also tunes up our problem-solving skills.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge, urging you to let your sleep do its work. The necessary rest that recharges our batteries—and our health—can also awaken our creativity . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
"The angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.' " Genesis 31:11
