At the Washington Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally challenged, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. As the gun sounded, eight runners sprinted from the line. But one little boy stumbled and fell. He hurt his knee and began to cry.
Two other runners heard him crying. They stopped and came back. When the boy finally rose, the three runners linked arms and began to walk together. As they crossed the finish line, everyone in the stadium stood and cheered for a long time.
