Real Champions

At the Washington Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally challenged, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. As the gun sounded, eight runners sprinted from the line. But one little boy stumbled and fell. He hurt his knee and began to cry.
Two other runners heard him crying. They stopped and came back. When the boy finally rose, the three runners linked arms and began to walk together. As they crossed the finish line, everyone in the stadium stood and cheered for a long time.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Here is a picture of servant leadership: Real CHAMPIONS, real leaders, know the winning secret . . . that no one goes it alone . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:
If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
